Marlin Model 36RC Pre Model 336 in 30-30 Stamped "Second" and double JM Marked from Marlin factory
Description: This is a very nice condition model Marlin Model 36 these were produced from 1936 untill it was replaced in 1948 where the model 336 started to be manufactured. This rifle has the word "Second" stamped upside down on the right side of the barrel and two JM stamps side by side upside down on the right side of the barrel. From my reserch there were a few Marlins actually sold as Seconds, or factory blemished rifles and this was how they were marked. The 36 required more machining due to its square bolt so marlin simplified the design in the 336. This marlin 36RC has a super smooth action and a mirror like bore. the receiver retains 99% bluing and has a glossy deep blue black finish with no wear on the edges or on the bottom where the bluing usually wears from carrying. The barrel and mag tube bluing has a few exterior rust spots where it looks like it may have been stored after being handles without wiping of the salts from finger prints. The stock has a perty good size ding on the left side and overall has spots where the finish has peeled and has spider cracking. The stock does not have any cracks and fits the receiver properly. The but Pad is cracked and some pieces missing. Over all it is still one of the best 36's I have seen come through my shop.
