Exceptional and Historically Interesting Special Order Marlin Model 1894P (Ported) Rifle, 44 Magnum,
With Letter Of Provenance
Description: Offered for sale is an exceptional and historically interesting JM-proofed Marlin Model 1894P (ported) chambered in 44 Remington Magnum. Designed as the little brother to the Marlin Model 1895 45/70 Guide Gun and 444 Marlin Outfitter, the Model 1894P was introduced in 2000 and discontinued in 2002. I took delivery of the rifle, new, in December of 2001. The included letter of provenance and accompanying invoice show this rifle as being a “special order” handled by Marlin for delivery through an FFL for an industry “friend of Marlin”. The rifle features upgraded feather-crotch grained black walnut stock; a trigger factory set to break as crisp as a glass rod at three pounds – no creep there; and the action components received some additional hand fitting by the folks at the Marlin North Haven, CT factory, before being shipped to the buyer’s FFL to insure exceptionally smooth function. As delivered from the factory the rifle features a 16 ¼-inch ported barrel with deep-cut Ballard-type rifling, noted for giving very good accuracy with either cast or jacketed bullets. The fancy-grained butt stock is fitted with a Marlin ventilated recoil pad, the forearm with a blued steel fore-end cap, and sling swivel studs. The magazine capacity is 8-rounds of 44 Remington Magnum, with 44 Special cartridges being useable if so desired. The semi-buckhorn rear sight and brass-bead front sight provide fast target acquisition, excellent for running deer, black bear, or wild hogs. The solid top receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts and the left receiver wall is drilled and tapped for a receiver sight if so desired. Factory advertised weight was 5 ¾pounds and the overall length is 33 ¼-inches making it the ideal camping, fishing, hiking, trapping, and hunter’s companion. This rifle has never been fired since being delivered from the factory and is complete with original sales invoice, and the original box with all the included paperwork, and factory-supplied accessories: offset (right hand or left hand) hammer spur; cable gun-lock. In addition is an original 2020 Marlin factory catalog which heralds the introduction of the “New Model 1894P” in the Model 1894 Centerfire Rifle section as being based on the Model 1895 Guide Gun and Outfitter concept. Please note the butt stock has two minor blemishes (documented in the attached photographs) on the right-hand side of the butt stock. The result of being a “safe queen” and have come in contact with the corner of a vault door when being removed from the owner’s vault for its annual inspection and cleaning. One of those “oh shit” moments that as the owner I never forget. This JM-proofed Model 1894P variation is much sought after by both collectors and shooters and hunters alike. Whether it be for an ardent Marlin collector, or as shooter or hunter’s new best “woods walking” rifle, this is truly an outstanding JM-proofed Model 1894P that will make an exceptional addition to your fine firearm collection. Seller’s Note: While I have not fired this specific Model 1894P, I personally own similar rifles and 44 Magnum revolvers that are ported and can attest to the fact the porting works. Felt recoil is a subjective thing but in my experience, most have noticeable less felt recoil and the porting also helps to significantly reduce muzzle jump and gets you back on target faster. From the shooter’s prospective any increase in noise is not noticed when hunting, and when target shooting you (should) have hearing protectors on. That is my subjective opinion. The Marlin Model 1894P with the factory original box and accoutraments will ship to the buyer in a Flambeau hard gun case, a free $40.00 value, to insure it is well protected during shipping. About RGB Classics: I am a collector, not an FFL dealer, with a keen interest in the history, design, and manufacture of firearms, ammunition, and related accoutrements. With a career that spanned over 50 years as a gunmaker, design engineer, and firearms and ammunition industry standards developer, I have had the good fortune to build a collection that includes: high-quality hunting/sport, competition, historical/collectable, and “of interest” firearms and related accoutrements, reloading tools, books, and firearms and ammunition industry advertising materials. Having the privilege of being the steward of these items for, in many cases, decades, it is now time for me to consolidate my collection and offer others the opportunity to own these interesting pieces. It is my intent that you're purchase meets, or exceeds, your expectations. I endeavor to supply high-definition photographs and detailed descriptions of the products I offer so that you are able to make an informed purchase. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will respond the same day whenever possible. Inspection and Return Policies: The item you are purchasing is from my own personal collection and many of the items I offer for sale are in high-grade condition, in some cases collectables, or one-of-a-kinds, or rarities. Any time an item is shipped there is the possibility of the item incurring marks or damage from the carrier’s handling or when being "inspected" by the recipient. It is my intent to minimize that exposure to the items I sell. I have an exceptional reputation, and I endeavor to supply you, the buyer, with photographs and descriptions that detail the good, and the flaws, in the items I offer for sale. To facilitate that goal, I pay particular attention to packaging to ensure your purchase arrives as you see it in the photos here. Firearms: I offer a three-day inspection and return policy under the following conditions:
Payment Methods: I accept USPS money orders, bank wire transfers, bank-issued cashier checks, and personal checks. Visa credit cards will be accepted with a 5% service charge. All payments must clear my bank before any item ships. Shipping: I ship via USPS or ShipMyGun, the Buyer's choice, unless the Buyer wishes to make other arrangements with me. Your FFL must signed up with ShipMyGun to insure validity of the FFL licence. See the ShipMyGun for more details. The Buyer pays shipping and insurance costs.
