MARLIN MODEL 1881 FIRST VARIATION LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN CALIBER 40-60
Description: 28 inch octagon barrel chambered in 40-60 Marlin caliber with a very good bright shiny bore. Sights include a beaded blade front and a flattop sporting rear. Full length magazine tube. About 60% thinning blue remains on the barrel. Traces of blue in protected areas on the rebated receiver. Smooth action. Checkered forearm and straight grip stock are a nicely grained walnut. Wood is in good condition with the typical handling dings. Steel buttplate. This is a good example of an early 3-digit serial number Model 1881 with the rebated receiver. Fewer than 300 were produced with the rebated receiver. Leroy Merz Antique Firearms specializes in antique and vintage Winchesters and other fine American firearms.
