MARLIN MODEL 1881 FIRST VARIATION LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN 40-60
Description: 28 inch octagon barrel chambered in 40-60 Marlin caliber with a good bore with some light roughness. Sights include a blade front and sporting rear. Full length magazine tube. About 60% barrel and mag blue remain. Receiver has faded to a mostly grey color with some traces of blue. Hammer has traces of case color while the lever is mostly a brown patina. This is an early model with the rebated receiver. Forearm and straight grip stock are checkered and in very good condition exhibiting nice extra figure. Some softness to the checkering. Just a few handling dings. Steel buttplate. Fewer than 300 were manufactured with the rebated receiver. Nice looking honest example of a 3 digit serial number Model 1881 Marlin in 40 caliber.
