MARLIN MODEL 39 .22 – 1933, HIGH FACTORY CONDITION, vintage firearms inc
Description: General Specs: Marlin, 1933, .22S/L/LR, 5lbs. 13oz., LOP 13 1/4″ Serial Number: S17060 Here we have a very well cared for Marlin Model 39 rifle, snS17060 built in about 1933. The 24” full octagon barrel has no pitting, light handling marks, 97% dark factory blue, and a bright shiny bore that rates a 9.5 out of 10. The Model 39 was a continuation of the Marlin Model 1897 and was produced from 1922 until 1936. It was a takedown rifle, which facilitated thorough cleaning and easy travel when able to be stored in a smaller case. The ability to fire all .22 rimfire ammo to include shorts, longs, and long rifles made it a very versatile rifle and the Model 39 was known to be a very accurate, full-size rifle as well. In addition to accuracy, ease of takedown, superb mechanics, it is a very attractive rifle with its “S” shaped pistol grip, octagon barrel, and full magazine tube. This rifle has all factory original finishes, including the wood, with 90% case color that has began turning to a nice patina, excellent screws, original buttplate, and the correct ivory bead front sight and Rocky Mountain flat top rear sight. You will note that this rifle has the six point star on the top tang, utilized by the final inspectors to indicate that this particular rifle was inspected and deemed to be a superior example in every way…none finer could be made. Examine the photos and you will see a very honest gun, with nearly 100% of the bolt blue still intact, very few handling marks in the wood, no real hard dings or marks in the wood, and the barrel and magazine tube with no rust, pits, or remnants of either. The lever still has lots of case color as well. The stampings are clear and sharp…all untouched original condition. We have priced the rifle to sell at a very fair price, and this one will shoot with it’s pristine bore. The gun was meant for Standard Velocity ammunition, which is still available in the marketplace. These have become hard to find with high factory condition and not beat up. A great little shooter/collector that will increase in value as you enjoy it use. Thanks for looking!
