Superb Antique MARLIN 1889 .44 Lever Action Rifle
Description: Superb Antique MARLIN 1889 .44 Lever Action Rifle With our offices only about 45 minutes from the original Marlin factory in New Haven, CT we have acquired during our almost 5 decades in the business literally thousands of specimens from this company’s manufacture. What we seldom encounter however are early models made before the turn of the century. In addition when one is found in superb condition it is certainly an exceptional addition to any firearms collection. The Model 1889 was manufactured from 1889 to 1899 with this particular rifle made in 1893. This one is marked with serial number 27034. The top barrel flat is marked "MARLIN FIRE - ARMS CO., NEW HAVEN, CT. U.S.A./PATENTED OCT. 11, 1887. APRIL. 2, 1889" with pointing arrows flanking the top line, "44W" is marked on the top flat at the breech, The serial number is marked on the bottom of the receiver. Dovetailed German silver blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. The receiver and lever retain 100% OF THEIR ORIGIBNAL FACTORY CASE COLORS. The barrel retains all of its original blue with light thinning in places when shown closeup under our bright photographic lights. Bore is minty and the gun does not appear to have seen much use. The buttstock and forearm have very light marks mostly it appears from storage rather than use. 24” round barrel. American walnut stock and forearm with an iron forend cap and stock with a crescent buttplate. Again when found examples just do not have any appreciable condition. This one is exceptional.
