"SEMPERT & KRIEGHOFF SELF LOADING RIFLE 8X60 MAUSER (R43672)
Description: "Sn: 17703 made circa late 1930’s-1940’s in Germany. Semi-automatic rifle chambered in 8x60 Mauser, 24" round barrel, banded rear express sight with a standing bar and 1 folding leaf and a silver bead front sight dovetailed into the integral ramp that is part of the gas trap. Action is a falling block semi auto with a 3 round straight single stack integral magazine on the left side of the action loaded through a trap door at the top. It operates using a gas trap similar to the early prototype M1 Garands, has a sliding safety through the front of the trigger guard and a single set trigger pushed forward to engage. Stock is high figure European walnut with a 14 ¼" LOP to a lined horn butt plate and a horn grip cap. Redfield base and rings hold a Kahles Helia 27 S2 scope with post reticle. Overall in very good condition with minor wear and handling, one previous repair in the stock and a small chip from the stock directly behind the action on the right side. These are very rare rifles, in the 10 years they were offered somewhere between 50-75 were produced with less than 10 making it to the US and they are credited for being the basis for development of Krieghoff’s entry to the Luftwaffe design competition for the FG42.
