S. ELLIOTT Antique FLINTLOCK American Full Stock .48 Caliber LONG RIFLE
NEW ENGLAND Rifle with Large Brass Patch Box
Description: S. ELLIOTT Antique FLINTLOCK American Full Stock .48 Caliber LONG RIFLE NEW ENGLAND Rifle with Large Brass Patch Box Here we present an antique Engraved S. Elliott Signed American Flintlock Full Stock Long Rifle made circa 1830. Pennsylvania and Kentucky rifles were the order of the day and were essential tools for providing meat for the table, pest control for the crops and livestock, and protection against beast and man for the homestead. Rifles in this caliber were used for taking medium to large-sized game on the frontier to include elk and even buffalo. Frontiersmen, homesteaders, pioneers, trappers and traders would have used a rifle like this for all of the above. Rifle manufacture during the 19th Century was rapidly changing over from thousands of craftsmen all over the United States and on the Frontier making and selling their wares, to the large factories with standardized assembly lines and modern manufacturing techniques. Many makers’ names of the so-called Kentucky long rifles have been lost over time. This .48 caliber rifle features brass hardware and light engravings on the lock and patch box. Again, these type rifles would have been crucial and utilitarian tools on the frontier for gathering food and protecting the homestead. The overall condition is very good. The action is strong all around with double set triggers. The bore is in great shape. Gorgeous full-length stock. A crack on the left side of the stock is present but remains stable. Light hand carvings can be found along the forearm. “S. ELLIOTT” is inscribed on the barrel top. Here is a wonderful piece of American history! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 45-3/4 inches. Caliber: .48 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2785 #201484 SOLD Antique: Yes |
