EDWARD ANSCHUTZ of PHILADELPHIA Antique SCHUETZEN Percussion TARGET RIFLE Made by Master Philadelphia Gunmaker EDWARD ANSCHUTZ
Description: EDWARD ANSCHUTZ of PHILADELPHIA Antique SCHUETZEN Percussion TARGET RIFLE Made by Master Philadelphia Gunmaker EDWARD ANSCHUTZ Here we present an antique Edward Anschutz Schuetzen Heavy Percussion Target Rifle made circa 1860-1870 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Edward Anschutz is listed as a maker of high-quality percussion rifles in Philadelphia 1860-1882, per American Gunsmiths by Sellers. This great looking gun features a heavy octagonal barrel with a turned-down muzzle for the included bullet starter, hooded globe front and adjustable rear barrel sights, period custom tang sight, and double set triggers. Top barrel flat & lockplate are marked “E. ANSCHUTZ / PHILADELPHIA”. It has a front action lock with beveled edge hammer and a full scalloped nipple shield. Mounted in a very nicely figured dark American walnut half stock with German silver furniture secured with a single wedge through oval escutcheons and a decorated single wing sideplate. It has an elaborate heavy Schuetzen trigger guard/finger rest with wide Schuetzen double set triggers with a wire front trigger. The stock is heavy with raised side panels & a deep cheekpiece with a checkered wrist and a heavy Schutzen buttplate with an adjustable iron heel pin. Comes with a fantastic original brass bullet starter! The overall condition is very good plus. This rifle is in phenomenal condition for its age and promises to be just as good a shooter. The bore is very nice with good, strong rifling. The action is strong, and the double set trigger is light and crisp. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32 inches. Caliber: .38 (about .385 from land to land) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
