Antique .50 Caliber LONG RIFLE with REMINGTON BARREL Percussion Half-Stock
HUNTING & FRONTIER RIFLE
Description: Antique .50 Caliber LONG RIFLE with REMINGTON BARREL Percussion Half-Stock HUNTING & FRONTIER RIFLE Here we present an antique Half Stock Percussion Long Rifle with a Remington made smooth bored barrel, made circa the mid-19th Century. Its stout octagonal barrel is in .50 caliber, large enough to take medium to large sized game or to defend the homestead against unwanted aggression. This rifle is a simple and rugged tool with a large, smooth bore. There is nothing unnecessary about this piece, and nothing to weigh a person down any more than necessary. According to an article in the American Rifleman Magazine (NRA), the author states "It is thought that for the first 30 years of business, Remington produced only rifled barrels at the forge in Ilion. Remington received so many orders, they allowed him to start a real factory along the Erie Canal in Ilion. And, by 1828, he was firmly established as the area's premiere barrel maker. Numerous examples of flintlock and percussion rifles bear the name ‘REMINGTON’ and ‘P & S REMINGTON’ on their barrels, having been completed as rifles by gunmakers throughout New York and well into New England." The overall condition is good. The action is strong and crisp. The bore is smooth and in great shape for its age. The stock shows use and weathering and remains solid. There is a short, stable crack at the left stock flat, front screw head. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34-1/4 inches. Caliber: .50 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1850 #220082 SOLD Antique: Yes |
