1800s Antique BEDFORD, PENNSYLVANIA Long Rifle Full Stock Rifle with GERMAN SILVER INLAYS!
Description: 1800s Antique BEDFORD, PENNSYLVANIA Long Rifle Full Stock Rifle with GERMAN SILVER INLAYS! Here we present an antique Bedford County Pennsylvania Long Rifle, made circa the early-to-mid 1800s. Lancaster County was the epicenter of the American Long Rifle after skilled gun-making German immigrants settled there and thereabouts in the 18th Century. Nearby Bedford County would also become known for its long rifles, though, of course, the county developed its own aesthetic style. This rifle would have been used to hunt small to medium sized game but could also have been used to defend the homestead. This petite rifle features a fairly lightweight octagonal barrel in .35 caliber. There is a blade front sight and an open rear sight mounted midway down the barrel. The rifle balances just about an inch forward of the rear sight. This rifle also comes equipped with double set triggers for a light and crisp trigger break, as well as an additional measure of safety. Deluxe figured maple was used in the making of this stock, which is accented throughout with German silver décor. The small, coffin-shaped accent on the bottom of the butt stock is of particular interest. From the profile of the stock, to the shape of the hammer and lock, this rifle compares well with known makers from Bedford to include John Border and Jacob Stoudenour. The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a dark patina. The maple stock is in good condition. The left side of the stock flat shows a crack that is stable and immovable. The bore is in very good condition with strong rifling. The action remains functional. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36-1/2 inches. Caliber: .35 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1995 #190843 SOLD Antique: Yes |
