BEAUTIFUL FIRST MODEL FACTORY ENGRAVED HENRY RIFLE

Description:
This gun is in the 2k serial range made in May of 1863 and features the typical Hogson style engraving. On the left side of the frame is a dog and on the right is the scrolls with punch-dot background. Barrel has just traces of blue in protected areas. Original sights. Markings are excellent. Finish has turned a plum brown on the barrel with some minor indentations indicating someone has tried to remove it. I have checked all the numbers and they all match including the wood screws, lower tang, barrel and buttplate. Wood has some dings and mars with some finish added at sometime. Correct sling swivels. The brass has turned a deep yellow patina and the receiver has sharp corners. Has the "W" on the lower tang that Oliver Winchester inspected the rifle himself. A very nice gun with crisp tight action and very nice bore. This Henry is very nice and it would be a great addition to any collection.
