A blade front sight with protective sides and an adjustable aperture rear sight. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. "JI", "NM", and "08" marked barrel with "308" marked metal spacer installed in the magazine. The rifle was manufactured in 1953. Very good as refinished, with pitting, green paint on the gas cylinder and ferrule, limited spotting, and edge wear. Stock is very good as sanded and varnished, with chips and dents. Mechanically excellent. The Garand was the service rifle of the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. It remained in service with the Army Reserve, Army National Guard, and the Navy into the early 7.62x51 NATO
