MODEL 1803 HARPERS FERRY FLINTLOCK MUSKET RECONVERSION.
. Cal. 54. NSN. It has been said, the m1803 Harpers Ferry Flintlock, is the most attractive military musket manufactured....Later production w/ 36" half rnd., half oct. bbl., front portion w/ under rib. V notch rear sight fitted. Eagle "P" & "US" proofs on upper left rear bbl. flat. Stamped on both upper left & right flats "J MCGUIRE". Lock reconverted with some reproduction parts. Has eagle stamp in front of cock & is marked "HARPERS" " FERRY" "819" on tail (no 1). Walnut half stock is brass mounted w/ band & nicely shaped thimble at front, trigger guard w/ grip spur, buttplate w/ release for distinctive brass patch box on right side of butt. Left side has sm. cheek rest. CONDITION: bbl. dark brown patina, sharp edges rounded. Lock cleaned to gray brown. Wood w/ old refinish. Brass nicely toned. Bore, remarkably, is bright & shiny. There is evidence of repair of stock through lock area w/ brass plate in cock mortise where it can't be seen & lg. area of epoxy in fill in right side plate area.
