BRITISH Pattern 1853 Enfield ARTILLERY Carbine with AFGHAN Bringback Papers Victorian “1862” Dated Lock
Description: BRITISH Pattern 1853 Enfield ARTILLERY Carbine with AFGHAN Bringback Papers Victorian “1862” Dated Lock Here we present an antique British Percussion Enfield Pattern 1853 Artillery Carbine Musket made in 1862 in Birmingham, England. This pattern was used by the British Military between 1856 into the 1870's. This is a rare, original example of the British 1853 Pattern 2-band Percussion Artillery Carbine. The P1853 was the British Military Ordnance Board’s choice for adoption as the primary long arm in 1853. It was considered the apex European military gun of that time, introduced by the British War Department after several studies to improve the calibers and the dimensions of the previous models. However, it kept the same general appearance of the earlier pattern 1851. This musket is has a “Crown/VR” and “1862/ENFIELD” marked lock with 346 marked on the bayonet lug. British War Department markings. It includes a U.S. Armed Forces affidavit “bring back” paper from Bagram, Afghanistan dated August 17, 2016 listing this carbine by make, model, manufacture date, and number. The British were in Afghanistan fighting wars from 1838-1842 and then again from 1878-1880. The overall condition is good. Weathered and used appearance. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and dusty. The stock shows lots of use with a couple stable splits (ie. the front lock screw on the left stock flat). Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: .62 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1100 #226519 SOLD Antique: Yes |
