Guns International #: 102043432
Seller's Inventory #: (AL5828)
This 577 caliber Pattern 1853 Enfield peercussion rifle is most likely one that was sold to the Union during the Civil War. The 39"" smooth bore, approx. 59 caliber, barrel has a fair dark bore. The barrel has London proof marks. All the iron parts have a smooth brown patina. The brass buttplate, trigger guard, and nose cap are fine with an even patina. The lock is marked 1861 over TOWER in the center with a crown at the tail. The stock is very good with light to moderate issue wear. The rear sight, front and rear bands (now electrical tape), swivels, and ramrod are absent. The action functions loosely but correctly. Invest in a few readily available parts and provide some cleanup elbow grease and you can make this into a presentable example of a key Union Civil War arm.
