This rare rifle was produced by DWM in Berlin for the Orange Free State (O.V.S.) during the Boer War. It is most likely one of the last batch of O.V.S.-marked rifles that were intercepted by the British in 1899 and diverted back to DWM. They then added the Chilean crest to the cahmber and delivered them to Chile as part of their contract. This ALL MATCHING rifle may be the best in existence. The 29.6"" 7X57mm caliber barrel has an excellent bore with bright, strong rifling. The gun has approx. 98% bright blue with a little freckliong in the magazine floor plate area. The top of the chamber has a sharp Chilean creast. The left side of the receiver has O.V.S. over the serial number. This is followed by DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN over BERLIN. The stock, with a strong tiger stripe, is fine. O.V.M. over the serial number is lightly marked on it below the same marking on the receiver. There is an inspector""s stamp between the trigger guard tang and rear swivel. The cleaning rod and swivels are present. The action functions correctly. These Chilean O.V.S. rifles are rarely seen and are virtually unheard of with all matching numbers like this one. Don""t miss it!
