Description:
This German Cape Gun or "Büchsflinte" in German, built by J. Ansorg of Würzburg, is an interesting piece of history. built using an early underlever action and chambered in what is believed to be 12.17x44R in the rifle barrel, this would be a rather early example of European combination guns. This firearm also bears only a single proof mark, the German Crown over V, meaning it was made before the German proof law of 1891. The overall condition is very good, however it shows signs of restoration, as the barrels show the characteristic purple of salt bluing and there appears to be a repaired crack in the forend.
