VIERLING 4 barrel double shotgun and double rifle in 2 calibers - Hubertus - Suhl Austria
Description: EXTREMELY RARE IN THE USA. A Vierling is hard to find in Europe and even harder in the USA but if you want just one gun this will do it all and even better than a Drilling. This has double 16 Ga. barrels side x side with a 5.6 x 35 (22 Hornet) barrel down the rib and a 8 x 57 mm JR caliber rifle barrel on the bottom (NEW INFO: I NOW HAVE A BOX OF 8X57MMjr AMMO THAT WILL GO WITH THE PURCHASE). All the barrels are bright and shiney inside and exterior bluing is very good considering its age (probably made in the 20's or 30's). Fully engraved receiver with oak leaves has some rub marks on the left side probably from being carried at port arms ready for a flushing black grouse or European auerhahn. Mid-rib standing post sight has a wide "U" and the flip-up (non-articulated) rear sight has a finer "U" - front sight is standing post on a slight ramp (see photo). Has several rust spots/pits in various places which can be seen in the photos. Forearm metal is rusted over completely. Yes, it needs a good cleaning, but works as-is! Also has a divot likely from a belt buckle at the left side of the stock just above the triggers (see photo). Wood is in relatively good shape with no cracks of any significance but I notice one very fine hairline on the right side of the receiver (see photo but very hard to see it). Appears to be horn trigger guard, butt plate, and grip cap. Shadow cheek piece. Safety is Greener style on left side of stock and barrel selector is on top of the tang. 4 cocking indicators. Both triggers are gold plated (peeling as you can see) and articulated set triggers with full adjustments for the rifle barrels (all triggers and cocking indicators work). I have not shot it as I have no ammo for any of them. The rifle ammo for this is easier to get than US calibers. Several ammo ads listed right here on Gunsinternational. Barrels are 23 1/2" long. LOP is 13 1/2" to rear trigger. Sling swivels installed. Scope mount is quick-release claw-type but I have not completely figured out how it releases from the rear claw yet. Uses a European style rail-scope which is also easy to find. No scope included. Weighs about 8 pounds as it has a Dural (duraluminum) receiver. The best thing about this other than the fact it's the only gun you'll ever need is that it is WELL USED. Most vierling's are in pristine condition and you'd be afraid to affect its value to even shoot it. This guy has been around and carried a a lot afield and probably taken a wide variety of game. Man, if it could just talk!. With a little TLC and possibly some refinishing/ re-cut checkering you'd have a great usable show piece but personally, I'd use it just like it is. The ultimate truck gun! There are 3 other Vierlings listed here and they start at $15,000 to $30,000 which is still a bargain. New would cost at least $50k. I can hear most of you saying "yeah, but it's a 16 ga". You can look for the rest of your life and not find a 12 or 20 double as a Vierling. I know because I've been looking for 55 years. Sometimes you just have to settle for what you can get. Europeans prefer 16 ga. I prefer to discuss this by e-mail as I don't hear well and it's better to have a written account of the conversation. prefer to sell as-is and you make sure to ask plenty of questions before buying. E-mails will be replied to in-order of receipt. No Trades. Payment to be by USPS Money orders. Shipping by USPS insured for $7K. I have a few more pics of the barrels and scope mount if needed to serious inquiries. There is one other great attribute to this firearm...that is the fact that it is already here in the US. No international shipping charegs ot import taxes to pay. There's nothing on the internet to compare it with condition/price wise so I am asking $6,500 plus $100 shipping. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .22 Hornet, 8x57mmR Shotgun Gauge: 16 Gauge |
