16ga .43-77 Peabody RIFLE & SHOTGUN R SCHRODER Halle GERMANY Jaeger Antique c1890 Traditional Germanic Hunting Arm, Damascus
Description: 16ga .43-77 Peabody RIFLE & SHOTGUN R SCHRODER Halle GERMANY Jaeger Antique c1890 Traditional Germanic Hunting Arm, Damascus Here we present an antique R. Schroder Double Barrel Side x Side Combination Rifle & Shotgun Cape Gun, manufactured circa 1890 in Halle, Germany. These were traditionally crafted hunting weapons that featured a side by side configuration with one barrel rifled and the other smooth. The hunter would use the rifled barrel to fire long range, precise shots against large game and the smooth side could be loaded with shot for fowl or small game. The gun has two triggers to allow either barrel as needed with the rifle trigger having a single set feature. This one has Germanic aesthetic with the raised cheek piece on the left side of the butt stock along with a carved trigger guard made of horn. The breech is opened with the lever under the barrels. Cape guns made in Germany, Belgium, and Austria usually have the rifled barrel on the right side (as is this one), while British made cape guns are usually reversed. These were supremely handy firearms that could also be used to defend the homestead or put game on the table. The overall condition is very good. Original finish and patina with very nice Damascus twist. The actions are excellent. The bores are bright with the shotgun bore being smooth and the rifle bore having fine rifling. The stock is solid. There is a Crown V German proof just atop the barrel rib over the chambers. The middle of the rib bears the maker mark “R. SCHRODER IN HALLE”. The leather sling is old but in good condition. A very nice gun! This firearm is classified as Antique. Barrels are 26 5/8 inches. Caliber: 16 Gauge (2 ¾”) & .43-77 Peabody Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #231055 SOLD Antique: Yes |
