Dakota Arms 76 Classic Rifle – Customized by Hill Country Rifles – 6.5 Creedmoor – Ultra-Accurate
Description: For Sale is used, excellent plus condition (less than 100 rounds fired), Dakota 76 Classic rifle customized by Hill Country Rifles with a Swarovski scope This rifle started life as a new, Dakota 76 Classic rifle chambered in 22-250 that I took in on a trade. As I had no use for this caliber, the rifle was sent to HCR to be accurized and rebarreled to 6.5 Creedmoor using a 22” Benchmark 1:8 Twist 3 Groove #2 Contour, match grade barrel. The rifle was returned with a .380” test target at 100 yards using Hornady 143 grain ELD-X ammunition. At a later date, the rifle was again sent to HCR (with the Swarovski scope) to be fitted in a new McMillan Hunters Edge Stock (Gray with Black Specs). The action was pillar and glass bedded and all metal was finished in Graphite Black Cerakote. Additionally, the scope was correctly mounted and the rings were lapped. This time the rifle was returned with a .240” test target at 100 yards using Barnes 120 grain VOR-TX TTSX BT ammunition. I have since shot .170” groups at 100 yards with this rifle using the same Barnes 120 grain ammunition. As currently configured, the rifle is very similar to Hill Country Rifle’s “Long Range Hunter” model which is an ideal rifle for open country hunting where longer shots are often necessary. Weight of the rifle with the McMillan stock, bases and rings installed, but without a scope is approximately 7.39 lbs., and approximately 8.77 lbs. with the Swarovski scope, which weighs 1.39 lbs. Dakota’s Model 76 action blends elements from the pre-’64 Model 70s and the Mauser. It’s a controlled-round feed system with a three-position safety mounted on the bolt shroud and an open-design two-piece trigger, which is favored for its reliability. The action also features a flush-mounted side bolt release that practically disappears into the receiver in the closed position. The original stock (Checkered XX grade English walnut, with ebony forend tip, Inletted sling swivels, and deluxe recoil pad), which was pillar and glass bedded to the action when the rifle was rebarreled to 6.5 Creedmoor, is included in the sale. The scope is a Swarovski 4-16x50 Habicht PV, 30mm Tube, Front Adjustable Objective, with a TDS Ballistic Reticle, mounted using Talley bases & screw lock rings, which and used exclusively on this rifle. Swarovski has a with program that allows you to produce custom ballistic holdover charts for the TDS reticle using your particular ammunition’s ballistics. These can be printed and taped to the top of the scope for quick reference in the field. The extra moments of visibility provided by this scope's enhanced twilight performance can be the deciding factor in the success of your next great hunt. Dakota Arms, originally sold to Remington Arms, was subsequently acquired by its current owners, Parkwest Arms, who continue to build on Dakota’s legacy of high-end rifle builds in Sturgis, South Dakota. Parkwest’s current SD-76 bolt action rifle builds start at $7,995, and the current build price of a HCR Long Range Hunter is around $7,100. This is a rare opportunity to own a proven superbly accurate rifle that can be immediately deployed to meet your most demanding long range hunting needs. Please email me with any questions or to request a link to a Photobucket album with more than 50 pictures of the rifle, HCR invoices, targets, etc. Price: $5,950.00 Rifle Caliber: 6.5 Creedmoor Contact Seller |
