Description: SCARCE, HIGH QUALITY ALPHA ARMS INC., DALLAS, TEXAS "GRAND SLAM" BOLT ACTION SPORTING RIFLE WITH RARE LONG ACTION CHAMBERED IN .338 WIN. MAG. CALIBER, #20X, MADE 1980s. the Alpha bolt rifles came in "Custom" grade with walnut stock or the more expensive "Grand Slam" model with attractive laminate stock and "grooved" or "fluted" bolt. Of the few of these semi-custom rifles I've encountered over the last decades, all have been for medium/short length cartridges- typically the .308 Win. family or the .284 Win. family (including wildcats based on the .284 case- I have an Alpha Grand Slam in .338-284, not for sale!). This rifle has a 24" matte finish barrel and action and is mounted with a Leupold Vari X II 3-9X scope in expensive Conetrol Mounts. The attractive stock is without checkering (as on all I've seen) and is fitted with a steel pistol grip cap and Pachmayr solid recoil pad. The action has a standard blind magazine (no hinged floor plate) as this arrangement makes for a stiffer action and better accuracy. The action is tight with a stiff initial lift of the bolt handle with a very smooth runway and crisp light trigger. The action and barrel have Alpha markings with the addition of "GRAND SLAM" on the action side. Target recessed crown at the muzzle. Has quick detachable sling swivel studs. Has a few light handling marks in the stock- minor, and some slight edge wear on the trigger guard. and on the bolt knob. Excellent bore. A class act all around. This one came out of here in Montana and no doubt took some elk and other big game. If I didn't have the Alpha Grand Slam I've had for years, I'd keep this one! Rare in this action length and caliber.
