This gun was purchased from Monty Mandarino in the early 2000's. This exquisite rifle was made for Dr. Charles Russell a prominent collector, most likely sometime between 1930 and the late 40's by Lenard Brownell. The gun was built from a Sedgely barrel and Springfield action. The stock is an absolutely stunning piece of Claro and the fit, finish and checkering are perfect. A work of art. Additionally, the underside of the stock is mounted with a beautiful escutcheon indicatiing the piece was made for Dr. Charles Russell. Buing is a deep lustre and in near pefect condition. The left side of the receiver bears evidence of an earlier siemount, probably a G&H. The rifle now sports a superb Lyman "Alaskan" scope in high condition with great clarity. This fine stalking rifle, 257 Roberts, is a tack driver.
