SALE PENDING
Description: Superlative pair of custom single shot rifles crafted by Jerry Fisher, Dave Talley and Sam Welch on consecutive Hartmann & Weiss falling lock actions. Serials 777 (.375 H&H Magnum) and 778 (.25-06 Remington) wear 24-inch tapering sporter barrels (muzzle diameters of .725-inch and .615-inch respectively, blade front sights atop contoured bases with matted tops and faces, banded sling swivel studs, contoured and matted quarter ribs with folding notched express blades marked “100 YDS” and integral dovetails with detachable 1-inch rings). ACTIONS: The identical Hartmann & Weiss actions showcase flawless lines, contours and transitions. Notable features include the absence of visible screws or pins, tapering tangs, rolling safeties, effortless operation and crisp trigger pulls. STOCKS: Shaped from exhibition English walnut, Fisher appointments include peaked rosewood forend tips, 26 lines-per-inch wrap checkering with partially Mullered borders, side scallops, English cheek rests (scalloped, shadow lines), steel grip caps, brass initial plates (blank) and round toe line studs. The big rifle is fitted with a leather-covered pad while the .25-06 has a steel plate (trapdoor, widow's peak). All screws are timed. ENGRAVING: Welch adorned each receiver with a pair of caliber-appropriate gold relief game scenes (the .375 a lion and leopard, the .25-06 a mountain goat and bighorn sheep). Each is accented by corners of intricate leafy vine and bordered by gold wire. This supporting treatment continues over the balance of the action and reappears on the front sight bases, barrel legends, rings, over the chambers, grip caps and screws, safeties and the .25-06 butt plate. Makers names and caliber designations ride the barrels in gold while the engraver's signatures appear at the trigger slots. FINISHES: Barrels wear rust blue, actions French gray and the wood hand-rubbed oil. DIMENSIONS: Weights (inclusive of mounts) are 8.2 pounds (.375) and 7.8 pounds (.25.06). Lengths-of-pull are 14.25 inches. CONDITIONS: Acquired from the estate of the original owner, neither rifle has been fired since proof. Bores are pristine. Mechanics are solid. The .375 rust blue is approximately 99 percent. French gray shows areas of light, superficial tarnish on both action and grip cap. Wood is approximately 99 percent with minor rubbing on the left rear scallop above the trigger. The recoil pad leather is 99 percent and the pad itself remains viable. The .25-06 rust blue is approximately 99 percent. French gray shows areas of light, superficial tarnish on action, grip cap and butt plate. Wood is approximately 99 percent with minor impressions.
