Shown is the new ramrod with two pics in and out of the rifle. Longer so a bit easier to use or you can trim as you like. The original disappeared some how. Since I am no longer shooting muzzleloaders, (this is my last one) I will include at no extra charge a Lyman mold and handles. And some extra screws etc I have.
CVA Mountain rifle that is the "MADE IN THE USA" version. These were made with the Douglas barrel (45 cal)which was an excellent barrel and their accuracy is a known fact. This barrel is one of the best of all the Mountain rifles I have had. This was the main reason I bought it. It has the Maslin style Precussion stye lock with strong case hardening showing. It has a hook style breeechg with two barrel keys and German silver wedge inlays and a pewter nose cap. What stands out about this rifle is the figure in the maple stock. Very few ever had this amount showing. They all have steel buttplates, and this one has a steel toe plate which the later ones did not. A steel trigger guard and side lock screw washers also. The capbox is the 4 screw version which the MADE IN THE USA rifles had. Barrel twist is 1 in 66 which is what all of them have and is 32 inches long. This rifle has a double set trigger which is in excellent condition.
The stock has a crack as showns in the pic near the toe plate and a hole was drilled in the butt and filled with epoxy to stop any further movement. It was left as shown on the outside and can be seen in the pic. It had been dropped aparently with the butt plate off before I got it but the epoxyed hole made it very solid. That hole is about an inch or so into the stock. The barrel is darkly browned using Laurel Mountain Forge barrel brown. The stock has over 20 coats of Tried and True Danish Oil applied over a years time.
