Colt Ar-15 6520 Rarity Manufactured During the 1994-2004 Clinton "Assault Weapons Ban", But Has No "Restricted" Roll Mark
Description: Please see photos for condition. This Colt was assembled and sold after September 13, 1994, the beginning date of the infamous Clinton "Assault Weapons Ban," (AWB) of that I am certain. It bears a GC prefix serial number after GC018500, the commonly accepted cutoff for "preban" status, but still carries no law enforcement restriction roll mark on the right side of the magazine well. It also has a sear block in the lower receiver, a pre-ban feature that Colt made, among others, as a sop to the politicians and bureaucrats in Washington, DC as the AWB was gathering steam for passage by yet another stupid assemblage of lawmakers. I have a letter of recall from a wholesaler that establishes the range of the "small number" of guns that "escaped" the roll markings and were sold to dealers from GC019XXX to GC028XXX. This Colt falls into the first 3,000 of that range. The AWB manufacturing range of guns carry the prefix of LGC and the roll mark restricting of sale and use to Miltary/Government/Law Enforcement/Export Only. I have owned three of these over a period of 22 years, and this is the most unique because of the presence of the sear block. How it came to be there is debatable, but, given the fact that the rifle has no other of the preban "fixes" that Colt used to curry favor with the elitist establishment in the runup to the Clinton "AWB" ban, points squarely to an error at the factory, wherein one or more of the GC prefix firearms being assembled for export (R6521) got mixed in with the first of the ban guns and sold into the market. It doesn't matter, though, since it was still subject to the recall letter to which I referred earlier by virtue of its GC prefix serial number being one of the "small number of those firearms" in a certain range of guns that were manufactured after September 13, 1994 without a restriction roll mark. A copy of the recall letter will be provided to the buyer, but not a reduced price from the one listed herein. Guns such as these are rare at least, and scarce at most, but only for the collector, and not for the individual that just wants to buy a Colt AR-15, and not a true collector's item. FFL required. Buyer pays shipping and insurance. Cashiers Check or USPS money orders only, please. No magazine comes with this firearm, due to the murkiness of magazine capacity bans that are being enacted by an increasing number of states. As always, it is strongly recommended that a qualified gunsmith perform a safety inspection on all used firearms prior to firing. Thanks for looking.
