Colt 1839/1848 “Albert Foster" Paterson carbine. Rare gun in excellent condition. This is one of fifty Model 1839 carbines that had been sold to Rhode Island, then purchased by Sam Colt in 1848 and reconditioned for commercial sale. Gun serial number is “484". Has 90% of brown finish on the barrel, 90% of the high polish blue on the recoil shield, upper and lower tang. Frame has excellent dark case colors. Wood is excellent with nice figure. Action works perfectly. The barrel is smoothbore and is bright. In R. L. Wilson’s book, The Paterson Colt Book, says all of these guns have cylinders in the bright. This gun is an exception as it has a cylinder browned, so evidently some of these guns have cylinders finished in the brown. Very fine all original Colt 1839/48 Paterson carbine!
