CS Richmond VA 1863 Musket (Confederate)
Description: Here is a nice example of a CS Richmond 1863 Musket that was built from the Machinery and Original Parts that were captured from the Harpers Ferry Armory in April 1861. The Hammer and Nipple Bolster are 1855 Musket Parts. The "C" in CS appears to be stamped over the "U" in US. The overall lenghth is 56" measured in a straight line from the Muzzle to the end of the Butt Plate. The Barrel measures 40" from the Muzzle to the Barrel Tang. The middle Barrel Band is missing. The Top & Bottom Bands have the "U" stamped on them, which is correct for U.S. Arms. The Stock is a U.S. Rifle-Musket, Model 1855, w/Patch Box added, circa 1859. The Flaydermans Guide to Antique American Firearms 9th eddition, page 655 shows a value of $7,000 in Fair condition up to $25,000 in Very Good condition. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Richmond Armory, Richmond, Va Model: 1863 Musket (Confederate) Caliber Info: 54 |
