Confederate 1863 Tower Enfield Anchor S Marked with Rare Bayonet
Description: Sold Confederate 1863 Tower Enfield Anchor S marked with rarely seen F Preston marked bayonet. This is a P53 Enfield Tower 1863 Percussion Musket Blockade Runner BSAT Cartouche Birmingham Small Arms Trade. Double 25 caliber mark and CS mark just in front of it. A nice Anchor S marking in front of the top tang of buttplate (see pic). Two cartouches behind the lower tang (see pic). There is a makers name stamped on the belly of the buttstock, it looks like Good_son? (See pic). Roman numerals carved on the left side of stock near upper tang and also on the socket end of bayonet (see pics). There is also a bunch of notches on the belly of forend carved on both sides of the ramrod? (See pics). Bayonet is marked with the rare makers name F Preston Manchester (see pic). Lock functions nicely. Overall metal is gray / brown patina. Stock is in really good condition for the age of the rifle. Bore looks to have been reamed out or shot out (shallow rifling).
