CIVIL WAR Antique FRENCH TULLE Model 1842 .69 Cal. Percussion RIFLE-MUSKET
Likely UNION ARMY Musket with SWORD BAYONET
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique FRENCH TULLE Model 1842 .69 Cal. Percussion RIFLE-MUSKET Likely UNION ARMY Musket with SWORD BAYONET Here we present an antique French Model 1842 Percussion Musket, manufactured circa the late 1850s to early 1860s in at the Tulle Arsenal in Tulle, France. The Tulle Arsenal was one of the main French small arms producing centers from the 17th century through to the 20th. It was, though, of lesser importance to the main arsenals at Saint-Étienne, Maubeuge, and Châtellerault. This is an example of one of the tens of thousands of European muskets and rifles imported to arm early war volunteers in the American Civil War. There were many muskets purchased by the Union agent Hartley throughout Europe. This weapon was imported in large quantities and was issued, and disliked, by thousands of Union infantrymen. There are no records of any Southern contracts and Confederate usage would have been limited to capture or battlefield pick-ups. Imported arms played a key role in the early years of the war before the U.S. armories and contractors could catch up in production. Some estimates of imported French and Belgian arms place their numbers close to 150,000 examples. The overall condition is good. Gray patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is dim and gray with visible rifling. The stock is solid. The bayonet is in nice condition. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 32 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1650 #227622 SOLD Antique: Yes |
