Markings: Lock markings are the standard Queen’s crown minus the “VR” behind the hammer with block letters “TOWER” under “1861” forward of the hammer.
The Left rear of the barrel is marked with Birmingham proofs and the number "25". The middle barrel band is marked with a "P" over what looks like a cresent moon. The buttplate is not marked. The stock bears no marks or stamps.
Barrel Length: Approximately 39”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a thick blade atop a raised base. The rear sight is a flip-up ladder sight, graduated from 5-8. "V" notch when closed.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The is a hardwood stock with a straight grip, cutout for the included ram rod, metal nose cap, three sling loops, and a brass buttplate. All barrel bands are present as well as both sling swivels. Lockplate surface is dusky gray. Brass butt plate, trigger guard, and nose cap exhibit a fairly clean yellow color. Black walnut stock has a moderate number of dings, dents and scratches consistent with age. No visible cracks.
Type of Finish: Mottled Black and Gray, no nicks or dents on barrel.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: frosted with visible rifling
Overall Condition: The finish shows surface corrosion and wear, with pitting around the breech area. The lockplate shows pitting. The buttplate shows some wear and discoloraton. The srew head show minor usage. Markings are readable. Rifle in overall good condition for age.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle.
