Antique Pattern 1858 .577 ENFIELD SHORT Rifle-Musket CIVIL WAR Sharpshooter Famously Used by the ARMY of NORTHERN VIRGINIA
Description: Antique Pattern 1858 .577 ENFIELD SHORT Rifle-Musket CIVIL WAR Sharpshooter Famously Used by the ARMY of NORTHERN VIRGINIA Here we present an antique Enfield Pattern 1858 2 Band Rifle-Musket, made in England in 1863. While sharing much of the Pattern 1853s function and aesthetic, the Pattern 1858’s rifling has 5 grooves and a faster 1:48 twist, along with a heavier barrel, resulting in better accuracy. Due to these advantages, the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia famously selected it as the “issue” arm for the Army of Northern Virginia Sharpshooter Battalions when it was available. When supplies of the P-58 ran out, Confederate Sharpshooters were issued regular P-53 Enfields. This rifle musket has the crown cipher at the tail of the lock with “1863/TOWER” marked at the center. Commercial proofs at the left breech. The name “E. WINDSOR” is stamped in the belly of the bottom of the stock. This one has sling swivels as well as a lug for a saber bayonet. The overall condition is near fine. Original finish/patina. Excellent action. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Very nice stock. Clear markings. A scarce example of one of the very accurate rifles of the American Civil War! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 33 inches. Caliber: .577 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3500 #227855 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
