Description: An Early and Rare U.S. First Model 1865 Allin Conversion Of a Springfield Model 1861 Percussion Musket In Fine Untouched Condition. Only 5,000 made in1865. All original and complete. The Musket has fine untouched metal, markings, and edges. It is clearly marked on the lock in front of the hammer with an eagle and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD". The rear of the lock is dated "1865". The top of the barrel in back of the breech is marked with a partial "VP/& A COMPLETE EAGLE" . The lock and hammer both retain most of their original factory case colors. All of the rest of the metal on the musket is in fine plus untouched condition with a wonderful natural dark chocolate brown patina throughout it. The wood on the musket is fine throughout including crisp edges and a fine grain to it. There ia a clear "U.S. Inspectors Cartouche" on the backside opposite the lock.
