"Potsdam Model 1809 Flintlock Musket (AL5490)
Description: "This Potsdam Model 1809 flintlock musket is unusual in that it is still in its original flintlock configuration. Most were altered to percussion and mnay of these were imported to the United Stages for the Civil War. The overall length of this musket is approx. 56.75"". The approx. 41.25"" round 72 caliber smooth bore barrel has a very good bore. The barrel is bright with scattered staining. The barrel is marked 37 on top of the chamber with 1836 followed by a dmall crown followed by a larger ctown over FW followed by a script N below the date. The bottom left side is marked 29 followed by 70 (the caliber designation) followed by a ctown over B followed by a script letter. The touchole area of the barrel is heavily pitted and it appears that the touchole was refaced during its period of use. The lock is marked with a crown over script Potsdam over what appears to be scripg GF. The lock and cock have a smooth brown patina. The brass bands, trigger guard, butt plate, and side plate have a nice aged patina. The trigger guard and side plate have crown inspection stamps. The bands are numvered 29. The front band has a blade front sight and the barrel tang has a fixded notch rear sight. The swivels and ramrod are absent. The dark finished stock is very good with an old repair at the butt heel, a couple of old stable stress cracks around the lock, and sharp edges. The action functions correctly. If you are interested in the Potsdam Model 1809 flintlock musket, don't miss this one. They are rarely seen in flint. Price: $1,795.00 Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
