Description: An Early U.S. Civil War Model 1860 Spencer Carbine Identified By Serial Number Directly To Sgt. Joseph Barker, 19th NY Cavalry, (1st NY Dragoon, Co. I) In Very Nice Untouched Condition. Serial #48,579, all original and complete. The carbine has very good untouched metal, markings and edges. All of the metal on the carbine has a wonderful & natural chocolate brown patina throughout it. The wood on the gun is very good throughout with good edges and shows light saddle wear in the areas you would expect to see on it from use. There is a U.S. Inspectors Cartouche on the backside of the wood. It has a very good bore and action. Sgt. Joseph Barker joined the 19th N.Y. Vol. Cavalry on Aug. 1st, 1862 and mustered out at Cloud's Mills, VA. on June 30, 1865. The regiment lost 126 men and 4 officers in battle. The fought the entire war in VA. and were in 94 skirmishes and battles. These included Deserted House VA., Manassas VA, Todd's Tavern VA, Yellow Tavern VA, Cold Harbor VA, Trevillian Station VA, Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Newtown, Shepherdstown, Smithfield, Opequan, Winchester, New Market, Cedar Creek, Five Forks, & Appomattox Court House, VA. This Is A Fine Untouched Example Of An Early U.S. Civil War Model 1860 Spencer Carbine Identified By Serial Number Directly To Sgt. Joseph Barker, 19th NY Cavalry, (1st NY Dragoon, Co.
