SCARCE,,, Maynard 2nd Model "Conversion" Civil War Carbine. (First I've seen.".... LAYAWAY?
serial #21070, 50 RF, 20” round barrel with octagonal breech with a bright very fine bore showing light pitting in the grooves near the muzzle and strong rifling. This carbine displays a post war rimfire conversion, the barrel and frame showing remnants of blue and casehardening. The carbine retains the sling bar and ring, the barrel and lever pivot screws showing some moderate slot damage, the lower tang missing the rear screw. The metal markings remain intact and strong, the smooth walnut buttstock showing a lightly worn oil finish with some scattered dings and handling marks displaying a pair of nice crisp cartouches on the left wrist. The action on this carbine functions well. An interesting cartridge and SCARCE conversion Maynard for the Civil War enthusiast.
