Description: A Scarce "Z" Marked Confederate Captured & Collected Civil War Smith Artillery Carbine In Very Nice Untouched Condition. All original and complete. Serial #1,396, All original and complete. The carbine has nice metal, markings. It is U.S. Sub Inspected on the side of the barrel and the top of the comb in front of the butt plate. All of the metal on the gun has a natural plum brown patina on it. All of the screws are fine. The wood is fine throughout with nice edges. It has a fine bore and action. The "Z" Marked Confederate Captured & Collected Gun Operations Were Supervised By Capt. Louis Zimmer In Richmond VA from 1864 to 1865. The Guns Were Then Reissued To The Various Confederate Soldiers & Regiments That Needed Them. This Is A Very Nice All Original Example Of An Early Confederate Captured "Z" Marked U.S. Civil War Military Issued Smith Artillery Carbine That Would Be A Great Addition to Any Fine Collection!
