Civil War Sharps New Model 1863 Cavalry Carbine
Description: Serial #C9241, .52 Caliber, 22" barrel with a good bore that has some freckling and pitting within the grooves. This is a good looking Civil War carbine that has matching numbers on the frame and barrel. The metal has an overall lightly mottled plum-brown patina mixed with mild dark brown freckling throughout, as well as some pinprick pitting on the sideplate just behind the hammer. The walnut forend and buttstock have an added military oil finish over numerous minor handling marks and blemishes, and the inspector cartouches are visible but illegible on the left side of the wrist. The sling ring is missing, and the forend has both a chip missing from the left side, and a plastic wood repair on the underside. The action is tight and functions flawlessly. This is a great looking, U.S. inspected, Civil War Sharps and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
