Museum worthy Confederate North Carolina Flag. 12th of the 13 states to join the Union. North Carolina joined the Confederacy on May 20, 1861. It was the second to last to leave the Union. While seven states from the Deep South seceded as a direct result of Abraham Lincoln’s election to the presidency. North Carolina joined Virginia, Tennessee, and Arkansas in Initially choosing to remain within the Union. After Confederate forces in Charleston, South Carolina fired on the Federal garrison at Fort Sumter in April 1861, however, the state’s position changed dramatically. Flag measures 32”1/2 x 25”1/2 including tassels.
