Description: Charles Daly Prussian .22 Hornet in incredible condition- stunning detail defines ,custom rifle,. SN# 15108 These interesting rifles were built on a (Herold) patent action, proprietary name for.Franz Jaeger & Co of Suhl.This well built rifle is typical of the few known, in that it has the 24" tapered round barrel with two folding leaf front in island base, and silver bead in matted, banded-on ramp.Top rear is marked with caliber,left rear"Charles Daly" and right rear with "Krupp Steel". Right side in front of sight is engraved"Made in Prussia". Action with enclosed bolt and double claw extractor system, has wiggle pattern engraving and matted top. It is fitted with Lyman 57 receiver sight. Bolt with checkered round knobhas low flag safety. Bottom metal with hinged floorplate and intricate machined magazine, is marked"U.S.A. PATENT" , along with German patent designations. Action is fitted with double set triggers. Stel trigger guard with wiggle border engraving, has SN at tip of tang. All other known (GGCA) Hornet Repeaters (4 of them) are in this SN range. Nicely fiddle figured and well streaked European walnut horn capped pistol grip stock measures 13 5/8 over serrated horn buttplate.Stock features right hand cheek piece, horn for end tip,well cut point pattern checkering with double line borders at grip and wrapping around forend,, as well as as vacant silver oval and sling loop on toe line, which matches that on forend, a few small chips on toe of buttplate. Drop at heel, approx, 2 1/2", drop at comb, approx 1 3/4. Weight, 7 lbs 11 oz. LOP, 13 5/8". Condition, Excellent. This hard to find Daly offering is in exceptional, as found, in original condition with no customizing or refinishing evident. Metal parts retain over 90% orig blue which is exceptionally strong on bbl and action. Floorplate is somewhat silvered. Stock retains essentially all of its original Finnish with a few light marks. Checkering has very little wear. Horn is in excellent condition , with only some slight chips and some infill of what may be some insect damage on buttplate. Bore is excellent, near mint. Action is smooth and crisp.in 1932 this rifle retailed for $113.50 with Lyman sight. Endless detail from one end to the other in outstanding condition-elegant hand engraving so tastefully done,drop leafs,adj peep,double sets, she has it all.
