1857 Napoleon 12-pound Replica Cannon
Description: Two identical 1857 Napoleon 12-pound Replica Cannons. 12-pound Napoleans were commonly used by both the Union and Confederate armies. These cannons and their carriages were cast in 2005 by Steen Cannons and Ordinance Works of Ashland, Kentucky. Each barrel is cast solid and then drilled to 18-20 inches. The outside (barrel and truncheons) is fully machined to the original specifications. Each carriage looks like wood but is made of aluminum. The elevation screw is made of bronze. The wheels (aluminum) roll. The carriage has a No. 1 Field Carriage trail, axle, and wheels but will also accept all barrels designed for a No. 2 Field Carriage. They are situated uncovered at the entrance of the Hampton Inn of Vicksburg, Mississippi. They have been in this location since installed there as new cannons in 2007. The Vicksburg Hampton Inn is located directly across the street from the entrance to the Vicksburg Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The hotel has an antebellum theme but the new hotel owners intend to renovate it to a modern theme/decor. Neither cannon has ever been fired and until completely drilled, cannot fire. However, according to the manufacturer, it is possible to drill them to make them fireable. They are available as a pair or separately. Identical cannon are available from Steen Cannons today for $34,000 each - $15,000 for the barrel and $19,000 for the carriage. Both cannons are available for viewing anytime at the Hampton Inn of Vicksburg, Mississippi. Cannons are sold As-Is. Buyer is responsible for delivery. The price is $50,000 for the pair or $26,500 per cannon. SOLD Manufacturer: Steen Cannon & Ordinance Works Model: 1857 Napoleon 12-pound Replica Cannon Bore: 12-pound Condition: Good.
