Browning 1885 High Wall .45-70 BPCR
Description:
The rifle looks to be in unfired condition. It features a heavy 30" (1/2 octagon 1/2 round) Badger barrel, Browning rear soule tang sight & spirit level front sight. The Badger barrel has 8-groove right hand twist rifling with a 1:18 twist rate. The rear soule tang sight comes with one #60 (0.073” aperture) eyecup. I highly recommend purchasing a Hadley-style selectable aperture eyecup. The rifle will be shipped in a hard plastic padded rifle case. A copy of the original owner’s manual will be included along with a complete set of front sight inserts still attached to the fret (sight card).
The rifle was completely disassembled, checked out & cleaned. It may have been a “safe queen”. The chamber & bore are perfect. The action shows no signs of wear. There are few very tiny “safe dings” on the stock which are way too small to show up in the photos, most likely from being moved around in the safe. I could not find any dings or scratches on the receiver & barrel. I installed a Lee Shaver modified sear & light trigger spring reducing the typical factory 5lb trigger to a crisp 1lb 13oz. I normally charge an additional $60 for installing the kit.
Miroku only manufactured the BPC rifles for Browning from 1996 thru 1998. This rifle was manufactured in 1997. It features the redesigned crown & extractor. On a very accurate postage scale, the rifle weighs 11 lbs 7 oz with the sights & the eyecup installed.
