Description:
Here is a incredible complete Browning Centennial set consisting of four firearms and three knives all with matching serial numbers. This hign power pistol is 1 of 3500 manufactured in 1978 with a polished nickel finish. Serial Number #268. This has standard markings on the left side of the slide, the right side is marked "BROWNING CENTENNIAL / 1878-1978", fixed sights, gold plated trigger, 13 round chrome plated double stack magazine and checkered grips with Browning medallions. Complete with red velvet lined locking wood presentation case. The wood case has a plaque attached to the center of the outside lid which reads "BROWNING CENTENNIAL" with 1878 and 1978 on either side.
These browning 92 carbines were manufactured in 1978 with a limited production of only 6,000. Inscribed in gold "BROWNING / 1878-1978 / CENTENNIAL" on left side of receiver with light scroll engraving on both sides. Fixed front and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sights, gold washed saddle ring and trigger and plain forearm and straight grip stock with a steel buttplate.
This 50 Caliber black powder percussion cap rifle is number 268 of 1000 manufactured in 1978. It features a fixed blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Engraved with "Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle" on the top barrel flat. The lock plate has a raised likeness of Mr. Browning. Single set trigger with iron trigger guard. Fancy walnut stock with pewter forearm cap, commemorative Browning Centennial plate inset on the right side of the buttstock, and iron crescent buttplate and wood cleaning/ram rod with brass tips. Complete with commemorative powder horn numbered to the gun with leather strap and marked "Jonathan Browning / MOUNTAIN RIFLE / 1878 - 1978 / 0466 of 1000", Browning French fitted Alder wood case with a leather "BROWNING" patch affixed to the lid, spare nipple, nipple wrench, patch puller, and shipping box.
This Centennial Continental Set consists of an Express O/U rifle chambered for 30-06 and a set of 20 gauge O/U shotgun barrels. The superposed rifle barrels are 24 inches with a ramp fixed front sight and an adjustable rear folding sight, the forearm is fancy select walnut with a Schnabel forend, hand checkered and is oil finished. The shotgun barrels are 26 1/2 inches with a vent rib, single bead sight, chamber 3", choked full/modified with ejectors. The forearm is also oil finished fancy select walnut with hand checkering and Schnabel forend. The French gray receiver is nicely scroll engraved with a gold inlaid grouse on the right side and 10 point buck on the left side. The underside of the receiver is marked with a bust of John Browning and "BROWNING / CENTENNIAL". The trigger is gold washed and the straight grip stock is fancy select oil finished walnut with hand checkering and a black plastic Browning buttplate. Complete with a leather bound Browning case with partial fleece lining. Browning manufactured only 500 of these Continental Sets between 1978 and 1986 and very few ever stayed together. Three Browning folding knives in a red velvet lined presentation case. The set consists on the Stacker II, Canoe and Stockman, all are marked "BROWNING / CENTENNIAL" flanked by "1878, 1978" on the blade and numbered "0268" indicating that they are part of the Browning Centennial "0268" set. It is extremely rare to find a complete Centennial set such as this with all matching serial numbers.
This Centennial set is brand new,only be out of boxes and cases to take pitcures. The knives are all in excellent condition. Both cases are excellent. A fantastic find for the serious Browning collector.
