This fine engraved 4mm Zimmerstutzen parlor rifle was made by E. Pachmayr of Traunstein, Germany. The overall length is approx. 45.75"". The ocatgon ""barrel"" is approx. 27 3/8"" with the actual barrel being approx. the final 7"". The 4mm finely rifled bore is excellent. The remaining 20 plus inches of the ""barrel"" houses the long firing pin which is ativated by the Martini style action. The top flat of the barrel is marked E PACHMAYR over TRAUNSTEIN. The barrel has approx. 95% blue. The ramped front sight with wings has a small blade and the rear sight is a massive adjustable peep. The engraved case colored action is excellent. The left side of the action features a woods scene with two stag (one apparently shot and down) and two does in the background along with decorative floral borders. The right side has a woods scene with two rams and two babies, an eagle in the center, and decorative floral borders. The top and bottom of the action are nicely engraved as well. The buttstock, with its large cheekpiece, is fine. It has checkering at the wrist and on the right side and carved panels at the rear of the action and on the side of the thumbrest. There is an old stress crack extending approx. 3.5"" on the left at the lower rear of the action. The forearm is very good with scattered dents and decorative carving on the side panels that join the action. The fairly complicated action, including the set triggers, functions correctly. This wonderful example of a highly decorated Zimmershutzen rifle is ready for your target or parlor rifle collection.
