Description:
Here is a beautiful and unique Martini rifle that we just got in on consignment. This gun was built sometime in the 1920's-1930's by German manufactuer Hermann Weihrauch in Zella-Mehlis, otherwise known as H.W.Z. This company is still around today and builds very high quality small bore rifles and also air rifles. This beauty is in excellent condition overall for being nearly 100 years old. There is still about 70% or more of the finish remaining. The breech still shows most of the original case hardened finish. The action is very tight and works smooth and excellent. The wood stock and forend are both in great condition for their age. They do show the usual bumps and bruises but overall the wood looks nice and sound with no visible cracks. Fitment to the receiver and barrel are great. Length of pull to the metal butt plate is about 14.5". The barrel is 27" with a very nice looking bore that has crisp sharp rifling. The barrel has an integrated rail with a couple original quick disconnect scope mounts that are period correct. Does not include the original tang mounted peep sight. The barrel is marked "CAL 6/22 LONG RIFLE" along with the serial and various proof marks. The left side of the receiver is marked "H.W.Z Mod. 21" and the top of the receiver is marked with the HWZ logo. The craftmanship on this rifle is exquisite and overall this is just a very fine example of a vintage German made Martini target rifle.
