Ballard Indian Wars carbine
Description: Serial number 564. Matching on frame and barrel. These are the only legible markings on the gun. It is rough. Brass tacks decorate the buttstock, which has had the butt plate removed (very common on long guns captured or bought by Native Americans). The butt itself is all rounded off, pretty neatly really. The 22" octagon/round barrel has a stovepipe bore. The action functions, although the lever is prone to dropping. Action works as it should, lever, block , hammer and trigger. Rear sight missing. The pictures should tell you the rest of that story. According to old notes, this came off of the Rosebud Reservation. Condition is exactly how a real example would be found. Lots of history here, as this one probably went thru the Civil War as well. If you collect Native American artifacts, this belongs on your wall. Sold as-is. $60 shipping to the lower 48, 3% surcharge for using a CC. If you choose to pay with a personal check, we will hold the item for up to 10 days to make sure that it clears.
