Description: Superb U.S. Model 1816 Harper Ferry Conversion Musket Original National Armory Browned Finish. Type II configuration. 42” bbl. Dated 1824. Untouched and uncleaned and what is SCARCE and unusual is that musket retains NEARLY ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL NATIONAL ARMORY BROWNED FINISH ON METAL. Mkgs on lockplate and bbl clear and musket retains all inspectors cartouches on wood. Light storage marks on wood and metal as the orig. finish does not appear to be marred by use. Musket exceptionally well preserved . Approx. 1840 many specimens in armories converted to percussion and this one evidently did not leave the armory until converted. Fine collectible Model 1816 musket with RARE original finish one would be hard pressed to find as rare and a specimen in this UNTOUCHED CONDITION. NO RESERVE !
