RARE JENNINGS RIFLE WITH RING TRIGGER
Description: The frame and buttplate have scroll engraving. The left side of the frame has the Robbins & Lawrence and C.P. Dixon markings. This Jennings rifle was manufactured in 1852 by Robbins and Lawrence in Windsor Vermont as a muzzle-loader using modified components from the unsuccessful Jennings breech-loading and repeating rifles. It has a blade front sight and a notch rear sight. There is a silver colored oval on the left side of the butt with some faint lettering. The rod tube is brass or copper and a replacement. The overall metal has turned a mottled brown. There is a repair at the wrist. Quite an unusual rifle.
