Early 1800's "Ketland & Co." Indian Trade Musket with an "Indian 2nd Type Headdress Escutcheon
Description: A Very Early 1800's "Ketland & Co." Indian Trade Musket With An "Indian 2nd Type Headdress Escutcheon" On The Top Of The Wrist Behind The Rear Tang In Good All Original Untouched Condition. All original throughout. The very early musket has good untouched metal throughout. It is marked on the very early lock in script, "Ketland & Co." The lock was converted from flintlock to percussion & operates well. The barrel is english proofed & Is 1/2 octagon and 1/2 round. Both the lock and barrel have a very untouched dark natural brown patina throughout them. The early wood on the musket is nice throughout with a thin hairline on the lock side of it. The wood has a very dark untouched original color throughout it. The very early 1800's original brass hardware is fine and very untouched throughout with a very dark natural patina on all parts. The early brass "Indian 2nd Type Headress Escutcheon" On the top of the wrist & "Large Acorn" long tang trigger guard are wonderful. There is a flower engraved on the bottom of the trigger guard. The early musket measures 55 inches long with the barrel measuring 39 inches in length. The bore in it is 3/4 inches in diameter. This Is A Very Early & Very Good Example Of An Early 1800's "Ketland & Co." Indian Trade Musket With An "2nd Type Indian Headress Escutcheon" On The Top Of The Wrist!
