CIVIL WAR PRUSSIAN Antique NEISSE ARMORY M1809 Percussion CONVERSION Musket Made Circa 1822 at the Armory at Neisse
Description: CIVIL WAR PRUSSIAN Antique NEISSE ARMORY M1809 Percussion CONVERSION Musket Made Circa 1822 at the Armory at Neisse Here we present an antique Prussian Neisse Armory Model 1809 Percussion Conversion Musket, manufactured circa 1822 at the Prussian armory at Neisse. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and then converted for use in the American Civil War. This musket was the standard infantry weapon of the Royal Prussian Army from the 18th century until the military reforms of the 1840s. Four models were produced at Potsdam and Neyse, including the Model 1723, the Model 1740, the Model 1809, as is this one, and the Model 1831. The Model 1809 was originally made in the flintlock format, with production after 1831 changing the name to the Model 1809/31 and shifting to the more modern and reliable percussion firing system. This musket would have been used in Prussian conflicts during the 1840s and 50s, including the Egyptian-Ottoman War, the Greater Poland Uprising, the Revolutions of 1848, and the First Schleswig War, before being sold to the battling parties in the first years of the American Civil War. Though thoroughly obsolete, both the Union and the Confederacy were desperate for small arms as the South had little capability to make their own and the North had to scramble to ramp up their own production. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Good bore for its age. The stock is solid and in good shape as re-finished. Markings are legible. Stable small repairs on the left forend towards the muzzle. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 41-1/4 inches. Caliber: .75 percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
